We are "empty nesters."

Clever right?

We have had a Robin's nest just outside on our gutter this Spring, and we have watched four baby Robins grow, die, and leave the nest.

yes, you heard correct. die. death! One poor bird left the nest too quick and fell to it's death. If you've heard my fake cry than you'd know how I reacted yesterday when I heard the news at the dinner table. :(

BUT! The 3 birds lived on! They flew the nest today! Did you know that "teenager" Robin's have speckled feathers on their breast? It's something that I hadn't seen before.

"Teenage" Robin Learning to Fly - check out this photo.

So, yeah.  That's why we are now empty nesters.  Mom checked the nest and it's empty.
